Why Purple?

Dear Clients & Friends,

The Purple Ribbon is a symbol for pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer has touched my life in several ways. In February 2008 I lost my mother, Ruby, to pancreatic cancer after a very long battle. In December 2009, my fourteen year old son, Evan, was diagnosed with a precancerous neuroendocrine tumor on his pancreas. Then in July 2010, my eighteen year old son, Jacob, was diagnosed with three precancerous neuroendocrine tumors on his pancreas.

Unlike other tumors, early detection does not mean early treatment. Currently, the best treatment is to wait and watch for tumor growth. But there is hope! These tumors are slow growing. So while we wait and watch, we hope for better treatment options and success rates.

Pancreatic cancer is the 4th most common cancer related death while treatment options continue to be meager. Our hope is to change that by supporting theĀ Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, a non-profit organization devoted to advance research, support patients, and create hope for those affected by pancreatic cancer. If you are a Do-It-Yourselfer when it comes to income tax filing, please access 1040.com via this website! We will donate 20% of your online income tax filing fee to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Thank you for creating hope for my family and others affected by pancreatic cancer.

From the bottom of my heart,
Nancy Marian, CPAPurple Ride
